Frankie Blanchfield

Frankie Blanchfield graduated from Taylorville High School in 1961, but his induction into the Taylorville High School Sports Hall of Fame recognizes the dedicated service he has provided as a friend to Taylorville athletics.    No sooner had Frankie graduated from high school that he immediately began helping out Tornado coaches. He became the official greeter for opposing teams and officials for football and basketball games, ensuring that each had appropriate arrangements and supplies for the upcoming event. He then became the public address announcer for basketball games and not only served in that capacity for many years, but still makes himself available to fill in at a moment’s notice if needed. Frankie can be seen at most high school sporting event providing positive support for the Tornadoes.    During the early years of the Junior Football program, Frankie ensured that qualified official were hired to referee the home games. He also, became a certified official and refereed both football and basketball at every level.    In 1995, Frankie Blanchfield was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association as a Friend.
