Important Renewal Information

Beginning in June 2019, all certified personnel must meet the requirement for the new Digital Learning Competencies to renew their license for teaching. All certified personnel will need to earn 2.0 CEUs in Digital Learning.

Please note: 2.0 CEUs is equal to 20 face-to-face instructional hours. Contact your Digital Learning Specialist to learn about the various options available to receive DL credit.

Each Digital Learning Specialist serves one or more schools, the components of the Digital Learning Initiative into the schools.

  • Our Digital Learning Specialists work together with Technical Support personnel to provide support to district educators for effective and successful integration of technology into the curriculum.
  • Our goals are aligned with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE Standards) and the NC DPI Digital Learning Competencies as we promote understanding and use of available technology in each school and provide opportunities for educators to improve technology integration and professional skills.

Step It Up Digital Learning Showcase Presenters attend the

2018 NC Ties Conference in Raleigh

Transylvania County Schools received the 2017-18 NCDPI Digital Learning Showcase Grant valued at $40,874.68. Our vision to promote district level digital leaders, classroom teachers who could support their fellow teachers in technology and digital learning in the classroom came full circle at the TCS Step It Up Showcase on June 13th, 2018 at Brevard High School. With an attendance of over 250 participants, the showcase provided educators with hands on activities and a repository of resources. Along with our Digital Learning Team, our district Showcase presenters and presenters who traveled from across the state provided a day full of learning and innovative teaching practices.
