BA in Social and Criminal Justice
MA Teaching License in Elementary Education (Graduate 12/25)
My name is Hope Calvert. I am from Northwest Alabama. I spent four years in Music Education at the University of North Alabama. I then switched to Social and Criminal Justice with the plan to work with juveniles to help them turn their life around. After an accident while directing traffic, I am now teaching elementary school.
I chose elementary school so that I could make an impact where it is needed in grades 3-6. I believe that every student has the capacity to learn, we just have to find how each student learns and guide them towards a love of learning. Once that love has been established, children can soar.
I have always wanted to move to the mountains in North Carolina, start a farm, and work to help children change their stars. I have a pack of Siberian Huskies. Outside of teaching I love to design and make t-shirts. I also make handmade dog collars and bandanas. I love to coach softball/baseball and I love teaching percussion and playing percussion as well. Photography is somewhat of a hobby, especially here in the gorgeous Appalachian Mountains in Western North Carolina.
I am excited to be teaching 3rd Grade at Pisgah Forest! I have three expectations for my students on, or off the field.
1) Kindness
2) Sportsmanship
3) Effort
I tell all my students that as long as they are kind to others, show sportsmanship to others, and give effort they will never disappoint me. I believe every student can change their starts.
