· Matt will give a quick overview of MongoDB and how it differs from RDBMSs like Oracle, to understand why many "modern" and cloud-native workloads are targeted for MongoDB. Most of the session will be diving into a demo of the Compass GUI client and Mongo shell for browsing the database, and of the Ops Manager tool for monitoring, alerting, backup/restore, performance optimization, and managing MongoDB at scale.

· I am an Enterprise Cloud Architect at Oracle with over 15 years of experience as Oracle DBA, Developer, Analytics, BI and Data Center Architecture. In my current role at Oracle I work closely with Oracle’s Product management and sales teams to help customers move their workloads to Cloud and create Complex Solution Architectures to resolve business issues.

Matt Kalan - MongoDB

· Matt is a Master Solution Architect at MongoDB with extensive experience in his career helping more than 1000 customers across industries solve business problems with technology. His particular focus these days is on guiding enterprises in digital transformation enabled by technology areas such as cloud, microservices, agile development, devops, and big data. Before MongoDB, Matt grew Progress Software’s Apama Algorithmic Trading and Complex Event Processing (CEP) Platform business in North America and sold broader real-time streaming and operational intelligence solutions. He previously worked for Caplin Systems selling solutions to stream real-time market data over the web to FX and FI trading portals, and for Sapient providing technology consulting services to Global 2000 clients.
