All of this week you have been asked to reflect on who you as a Catholic learner. As a Catholic learner you are asked to be what God intends you to be.
What does God intend you to be?
As a student in a Catholic school, you are nurtured to become your very best including being a responsible citizen in your school, community and of the world. Below is the definition of the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectation of Being a Responsible Citizen.
A Responsible Citizen is an Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectation. Students are called to be responsible citizens who gives witness to Catholic social teaching by promoting peace, justice and the sacredness of human life. Through understanding the importance of story, students can grow into responsible citizens who live Jesus' promise of hope, faith, charity, inclusion, equity, compassion and love.
As Responsible Citizens we are called to promote peace, justice and the sacredness of human life. This means we are called to show love for all people and to put others before ourselves.
A Responsible Citizen role model is Canadian hero Terry Fox. For over 40 years, The Terry Fox Run takes place each September in memory of Terry's sacrifice to raise awareness about cancer research and to raise money to help people living with the disease and to find a cure.
