Winter & Spring Concerts
Winter and Spring Concerts have been a part of the school community for a long time. Music students will spend a fair amount of time in class and at home practicing for these events. The Music Council oversees the bake sales, concession stands, merchandise sales, and raffle for both concerts.
Performances for this event includes our many ensembles from all three music areas as well as collaborative performances between all art areas to diversify concerts with integrated pieces.
Music Banquet
Music Banquet
Every year, we host the annual Music Banquet. This event takes place towards the end of the school year and serves as a celebration of the successes of the department. Music Banquet is the time for music students to relax (although all students are invited!) and come together to support one anothers' accomplishments from the year, both as groups and as individuals.
Highlights of the night include an awards ceremony for each grade and art area, as well as stunning performances done by CCAA's very own students.
Bake Sales
Bake Sales
The Carter Music Council is well known for their bake sales. We have hosted several bake sales over the years and every year. As one of the more traditional ways of raising funds for the music department as a whole, the proceeds to these fundraisers will usually go directly to all music related events. These include our end of the year Music Banquet, our bi-annual concerts, music department trips, and several more!
Movie Night
Movie Night
Movie Night is a relatively new fundraiser, as it was first introduced just last year by our 2019 - 2020 Music Council. All proceeds to this event went to one of the several charities the Music Council donates to regularly.
Movie Night is open to all students regardless of art area. The night consists of a movie held in the school auditorium and is paired with food and drinks that are available during the movie's intermission. In the past, we held a small raffle between the students who attend with a gift card serving as the prize.

Karaoke and Open Gym Night
Karaoke and Open Gym Night
Karaoke and Open Gym night is a new fundraiser that was introduced by our 2019 - 2020 Music Council. The council's intention was for the music community to share their love of both art and sports. During this event students were able to switch back and forth between showing their musical talent in karaoke and playing various sports in the gym.
Proceeds from this event went to the Sick Kids Music Therapy Program.

Merchandise
Merchandise
Introduced and pioneered by last year's Music Council with large contributions from the Presidents, Emily Boychuk and Jessica Mastrangelo, Carter Music Merchandise is a fun way for us all to show our love for our art as well as the music community.
The merchandise that is currently available include tote bags and buttons. We hope to soon introduce our new line which will include masks.
Merchandise is distrubuted by the Music Council but we welcome all students to purchase items to support us and showcase our school pride!

Christmas Market
Quartets from each music art area performing at a farmer's market in Thornhill during Christmas time. Featuring students from grades 10 and up with 2019 Music Council members in each group. Organized by the council's teacher moderator, Mrs. Anton. Groups formed by MC members and practices organized by each student group on volunteer time.
