In Grade 9, students will study a full core program and will have the ability to choose one elective course option. For graduation, students must successfully complete 30 credits, therefore, it is critical that careful consideration be given to course selection. Please work in consultation with your Principal and Grade 8 teacher to determine the best course types to select.
Grade 9 course selection for 2023-2024 school year will take place using myBlueprint (a comprehensive education and career/life planning program). Instructions for using this online program are provided in the document to the right. We have also provided a course request template (see below) that you can use prior to inputting your course selections into myBlueprint.
As we look ahead to this summer, we would like to inform you that we will be offering the Grade 9 Summer School Transition Program at Marshall McLuhan C.S.S. through an in-person learning format. In this program, we will offer a secondary school credit course (HIF1O1) with a focus on Literacy, Numeracy, and Healthy Active Living skills. The primary aim of this course, which will be taught by Marshall McLuhan teachers, is to prepare students for the academic expectations of secondary school as well as facilitate their transition into a new school environment. Students who successfully complete the course will earn one (1) credit toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
Our Grade 9 Summer School Transition Program will run from July 4 - July 27, 2023. As soon as we receive any updates from the Board related to confirmed timelines, we will inform you of this information through an e-mail communication.
We encourage our entire incoming Grade 9 class to participate in the Grade 9 Summer School Transition Program.
We ask that you pay an Activity Fee of $150.00 at the time of registration. This fee covers the cost of several important enhancements including: the school yearbook, school agenda, lock, school newsletters, postage, and guest speakers. It also supports extra-curricular activities and it will cover the cost of the Physical Education uniform and the Grade 9 Orientation. 100% of the Activity Fee goes back to students and without it, we would be unable to run these programs for students. In addition, there is a program fee of $20 for ancillary items provided during the Summer School Transition program. The activity fee (and Summer School Transition program fee) should be paid using School Cash Online.
Please call the school at 416-393-5561 to book your appointment to submit your Registration Package. We will be accepting applications at the school from February 15 to February 24 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 - 4:15 p.m. on those days. Thank you!
