Jeanette Gerrity Gómez is a full time faculty member in the Liberal Arts Division at MICA, where she teaches English language learning sections of the first year writing course and other coursework created to be inclusive of language learners. She is currently the Faculty Executive Committee chair, after a year of chairing the Academic Affairs Committee of the Faculty. She also served as the Assistant Chair in the Humanistic Studies department for four years from 2018-2022.
Prior to her arrival at MICA in 2015, she worked for ten years in the Language Studies Department at Prince George’s Community College as an Associate Professor and ESL Coordinator, teaching all levels of academic ESL and beginning Spanish. She has also worked with refugee and adult immigrant populations, in adult and bilingual education settings in Baltimore City. Ms. Gerrity Gómez was awarded a Fulbright Core Scholar award in 2014 and spent six months in Santa Ana, El Salvador where she taught in the English Major program at Universidad Católica de El Salvador. Her areas of interest include second language acquisition and Latin American studies, with a particular interest in Central America. Jeanette has a BA in Spanish from Loyola University in Maryland, and an MA in TESOL from Notre Dame University in Maryland.
