Title: A Practical Guide to the Secure Development Life Cycle
On 23 April 2026, Ts. Gary Kong, an alumnus of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS), was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a session on Cyber Security titled “A Practical Guide to the Secure Development Life Cycle.” With more than nine years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, he currently serves as the Director of Axcel Consulting.
The session was attended by all RIS second-year students, who found the presentation both informative and inspiring. The talk aimed to provide students with a better understanding of the activities involved in the Secure Development Life Cycle (SDLC). During the session, Ts. Gary thoroughly explained common web server misconfigurations that may lead to security vulnerabilities. He also shared practical approaches to mitigating these vulnerabilities through secure coding practices and principles.
In addition, Ts. Gary highlighted how programming knowledge can be effectively applied in the daily responsibilities of cybersecurity professionals. Students were also given the opportunity to interact with him during a short question-and-answer session, where he patiently addressed all queries raised.
Overall, the session provided valuable insights and meaningful learning experiences for both students and staff.
