The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS) has collaborated with Applied Security Intelligence Sdn. Bhd. (ASI), a subsidiary of LGMS. ASI serves as the main organisation managing the Cybersecurity Cadet Programme. This programme is a voluntary initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.
On 9 March 2026, Mr. Saw Leng Kew (Head of Technology) and Mr. Chan Chun Hin (Cybersecurity Engineer) from ASI, together with Mr. Robinson Leiu (Cybersecurity Consultant) from LGMS, conducted a briefing session for the students. During the session, they introduced and shared detailed information about the Cybersecurity Cadet Programme. They also explained the “Cadet Journey” as a structured pathway that serves as a bridge to the cybersecurity industry.
A group photo was taken with the speakers and FOCS lecturers, listed from left to right as follows: Mr. Chan Chun Hin, Mr. Robinson Leiu, and Mr. Saw Leng Kew, together with the FOCS TAR UMT team, comprising Ms. Kong Hooi Ming, Ms. Chaw Thim Vai, Ms. Shwetha, and Dr. Ng Yen Phing.
Following the briefing by the ASI and LGMS team, a total of 44 students registered for the Cybersecurity Cadet Programme 2026. As part of the programme, students were required to attend a three-hour Cybersecurity Cadet training workshop on System Remediation Specialist (SRS), which aimed to enhance their technical and remediation skills. Subsequently, students undertook an examination in the following week. The workshop was conducted on 28 March 2026.
Photographs were taken during the workshop, including a group photo before the conclusion of the session.
The Cybersecurity Cadet Examination was held at TAR UMT on 17 April 2026. The examination was conducted in two separate sessions to accommodate all candidates. Students who completed the programme received a certificate of attendance. Those who passed the examination were awarded the Certified Cybersecurity Cadet certification and granted official access to the Cadet Task Portal, allowing them to view and accept authorised remediation IT support tasks and other live cadet assignments.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in the students’ professional development journey and reflects their commitment and dedication to the programme.
