Using the Watch App

AutoWake Is No Longer Available

Unfortunately we have had to withdraw AutoWake from sale, as it will not work as originally developed on the new WatchOS 10, due to a lot of changes under the hood released by Apple in the new WatchOS.

If you already own AutoWake you will continue to own it, but be mindful that updating to WatchOS 10 will cause issues. If you need to re-install the app you can do it via AppStore app - tap on your Profile and into Purchases.

If you are not aware, AutoSleep has a really great smart alarm built in. We built this with the long term plan to phase out AutoWake using an API that Apple developed with us in mind. This is why AutoWake was free in the bundle for all those years.

Information on AutoSleep Smart Alarm.

AutoSleep has been designed to have a feature that renders the snooze button redundant. Once you use it you will never go back. It is amazing how much better you feel once you use it.

Ideally set a 15 minute window and enable the arousal feature which will tap you once per minute during this window prior to sounding the alarm.

This will take you out of deeper sleep. You may not even notice the first few taps, but you will start to be woken up gradually and by the time your alarm goes off you will be fully awake. This feature was designed to replace snooze as snooze. It works incredible well! Also, DON'T use the early wake feature if using this.

In AutoWake 3, all alarms are set up and configured in the Watch app itself.

You can add as many alarms as you want. Once you've added one, it will be intelligently displayed according to your settings choices. You then activate any of your alarms as required.

Adding an Alarm

To add an alarm to your AutoWake alarms list:

Advanced Alarms

Advanced alarms can integrate with AutoSleep, have advanced sleep features*, and can trigger HomeKit scenes such as turning your lights off.

There are five types of advanced alarm:

*Advanced sleep features requires WatchOS 5 or higher and AutoSleep 6.2 or higher.

Advanced Alarm Options

Using a Sleep Goal alarm as an example, here's an explanation of the options available to you.

Once you have set up your options, tap Add to add the new alarm to your AutoWake alarms list.

Scheduled Alarms

Scheduled Alarms are simple auto scheduled smart alarms.

Because they are activated automatically, they cannot provide advanced sleep features, HomeKit scene activation or AutoSleep lights off.

Once you have set up your options, tap Add to add the new alarm to your AutoWake alarms list.

Using the Alarm List

The alarm list lets you activate, edit and delete alarms.

About alarm types:

For light sleep or medium sleep options:

In the 15 or 30 minute window before the alarm will sound, your energy level (based on heart rate and motion) will be checked in 5 minute intervals against one of two threshold values. Either light, or medium. If the 5 minute energy level is above the threshold then the alarm will trigger early.

It is best to start off with the light setting.

You can check your last alarm results in the AutoWake iPhone app in the Last Alarm tab. This will show you your energy levels graphed in 5 minute blocks leading up to the alarm time. On this graph are two lines, namely Light and Medium. Here you will be able to see how close the 5 minute energy level was to either the Light or Medium setting.

For bump options:

In the 15 or 30 minute window before the alarm will sound, you will receive a haptic bump every 5 minutes. The alarm will not trigger early.

You are able to change the type of tap in AutoWake settings / Haptic section.

Depending on the type of tap, this will not wake you, but will gently bring you out of deep sleep.

Sleep Cycle Buster:

The sleep cycle buster lets you use both the bump option and light/medium sleep option simultaneously. You will receive a light tap every 5 minutes within the 15 or 30 minute window before your set alarm time. This is usually not enough to wake you up, but it will take you out of deeper sleep as you get closer to the final alarm time. This usually prevents those occasions where you remain in very deep sleep until the minute your alarm fires. You are able to change the type of tap and/or disable the sleep cycle buster in AutoWake settings / Haptic section.
