Texas A&M Mathematics Graduate Student Organization

About MGSO

MGSO exists to encourage communication among students and to contribute to a rich social life in the department through cultural and scientific dialogue. We would like to provide an environment where students in the mathematics department can practice their presentation skills and observe the techniques of others. It is our goal to be a source of support and information for all graduate students.

The main activity of the MGSO is the Graduate Student Seminar. This seminar is for grad students, (largely) by grad students: Volunteer to give a talk!

Title: Goss L-Values of Sinha Modules

Abstract: By drawing an analogy with the relationship between special Gamma values and the $L$-functions associated to CM abelian varieties defined over number fields, my work aims for a function field analogue. Current results include explicit computations of Goss $L$-values for Sinha modules associated to basic Anderson Hecke characters, providing a positive characteristic analogue of Lichtenbaum’s $\Gamma$-hypothesis. Continued work will extend these computations to more general cases.
