Our participating community scientists and their canine companions are the heart of what we do and our Administrative Assistant provides support to this diverse group by responding to help desk requests, creating social media content, and completing various clerical tasks. REDCap, Zendesk, Slack, Google docs, Zoom, and other software are used as needed to provide study participant support.
We provide extensive training and support to our staff. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have good critical thinking skills, and enjoy organizational tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Position is predominately administrative, including answering the phone, replying to emails, and assisting staff with other office tasks.
May assist with general data entry and participant information updates.
Provides accurate information about the Dog Aging Project to participants and prospective participants while utilizing a courteous, helpful, and caring demeanor.
Exercises sound reasoning and critical thinking skills to analyze issues, make decisions, and overcome obstacles.
Attends required training sessions and meetings relevant to the position.
Supports effective two-way communications with program participants, staff, and veterinarians.
Additional Responsibilities
Complete all necessary training.
Must be able to work in the office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons (between 1:30 to 5:30 pm). Office is in the old vet school (VMS 119).
Be able to work between 10 and 20 hours per week, with at least 2 hours minimum per shift.
Other duties may be available depending on schedule and interest.

Education – High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – One year of related experience. Must have strong people skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge – Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, both local PC and cloud-based. Preferred experience with veterinary technology, biomedical science, scientific research, data science, or a related field.
