Bio

I’m developing a lung biopsy sealant based on a PEG hydrogel/polyurethane-based shape memory polymer foam composite. This biopsy sealant is deployed into a lung biopsy tract in a crimped state where it will actuate (SMP foam) and swell (PEG hydrogel) to seal the tract, preventing pneumothorax. We plan to incorporate a drug delivery system into the PEG hydrogel for sustained, local release of a chemotherapeutic from the composite to bridge the gap between diagnosis and treatment to improve lung cancer survival outcomes.
