The U.S. Military Academies offer free undergraduate education and training in exchange for service in the armed forces after graduation and include:

• U.S. Military Academy (West Point)

• U.S. Military Naval Academy

• U.S. Military Air Force Academy

• U.S. Military Coast Guard Academy

• U.S. Military Merchant Marine Academy

Admissions Criteria include:

• High School academic performance

• Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT)

• Athletics and extracurricular activities

• Leadership experience and community involvement

• Letter of Recommendation (except for the Coast Guard Academy)

The Reserve Office Training Corps (ROTC) 

The ROTC is a college program offered at more than 1,700 colleges and universities across the United States that prepares young adults to become officers in the U.S. Military.
