Philosophy

Our camp program is designed to provide a unique atmosphere where youth are respected, nurtured, challenged and empowered. Under the guidance of our staff, campers participate in activities that build self-esteem, develop skills, increase knowledge, enhance teamwork & cooperative behaviors, and of course HAVE FUN! Camp Taloali sets high standards for the health and safety of campers and staff and the delivery of quality programs.

We value the role that staff members play in bringing the camp mission to life. Working as a team, we create a caring and supportive environment that respects each child as an individual and allows them to feel good about who they are. We are looking for individuals who share this commitment to making a difference in the lives of youth.

Campers

Our campers are youth ranging in age from 6-17 by June and who represent a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are looking for staff that will thrive and promote our inclusive environment at all of our camps. Youths who attend our resident camp program come from all over the Pacific Northwest, with many attending from other states.

Training

All hired staff members will have the opportunity to complete training through licensed educators and once qualified, receive credentials for Archery instruction through NASP, Rock Wall/High and Low Ropes course instruction through Synergo, as well as CPR and First Aid providing a good opportunity to boost your resume and future career. This mandatory training teaches critical leadership skills every staff member needs to effectively deal with social, behavioral, disciplinary, and supervisory challenges in the role of camp counselor. Each staff will be assigned specific training that relate to their specific job and experience to help you provide a safe, enriching and FUN camp experience. This is paid staff time and is mandatory for all camp positions. Training occur within the week (M-F) prior to campers arrival and includes workshops on health and safety, child development, programming planning and leading, traditions, behavior management, client services, skill verification, team-building, and... the WHAT to do, HOW to do it and WHEN to do it!
