Reporting

The quickest and most effective way to address content that violates either Pluspora or Diaspora terms is to select the Report icon on a post or comment. A popup window will ask what about the content is a violation. Write in why you are reporting the content, how it's a violation or you believe it may be problematic.

How do I report a profile?

Follow the same step as you would to report a post or comment, but when writing in your reason for reporting, be sure to say that the whole profile needs to be investigated for this behavior and that the post or comment you've reported is just a single example.

Who receives and reviews reports?

The administrators and moderators of Pluspora all have access to the reports, and decide how to move forward with each report. Decisions are based on the terms of both Diaspora and more specifically Pluspora. This wiki is a living document that helps make clear how we come to those decisions.

      1. Administrators: Di Cleverly, David Thiery
      2. Moderators: Jess Nut, Matt Osbun, Nathan Weaver

Will I be informed of the outcome of my report?

Short answer, yes. We try to message each user with a screenshot of the report they made, and update on their report. For example, if we removed a comment that violated our terms, we will send the reporter a direct message or private post with a screenshot of their report and let them know we removed it. We are trying to make this as personal as possible, and these messages come directly from the admin or moderator who took care of it. A personal touch, and transparent.

Ignoring profiles and hiding posts

There are two options that can help clean up your stream from unwanted user content. These are the Ignore and Hide options.

Ignoring users.

Let's say you really enjoy a particular hashtag and follow it. But maybe their's a user who posts content you don't like or maybe too frequently, so much so that it clogs up the hashtag with content you do not wish to see. You can use the Ignore option, found on one of their posts, and this will effectively block any of their posts from entering your stream moving forward.

Hiding posts.

Maybe someone you follow has posted something you don't want in your feed, you can choose the Hide option from the post and it will hide the post from your feed and their profile when you go to view it. However, the post may show in their Photos tab on their profile, if they had uploaded an image to the post.

Deleting comments on your posts

If someone in your post is harassing or trolling you, you do have some control over that. If you hover your mouse over the comment or tap on the comment on mobile, a small trash can icon should appear. This is a delete option. You see this as the original poster, and it gives you the power to control the conversation in your comments. It's your conversation, you should get to decide how it goes down.
