I don’t know about you, but I am ready for summer. Don’t you just love the warm weather? The beautiful sunlight sinking into your skin, the cool breeze on a windy day? Summer is essentially the 3-month-way-out of school until, of course, it starts again. It’s a season of fun and friendship and… boredom?
Unfortunately, that can happen! Maybe we’re stuck at home, scrolling on our phones. We’re not really sure what to do. (Or maybe that is completely the opposite of what you do in summer!) Whatever the case, one thing is for sure: WE NEED STUFF TO DO. But what? Well reading of course! Here is a fun UN-BOREDOM Book List that’ll for sure lift your moods!
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - an enemies-to-lovers romance taken place during the Georgian Era where a mother’s urge to marry off her daughters unfolds into drama
Watership Down by Richard Adams - an animal fantasy about a group of rabbits that leave their home; it is here they face many trials including violence all the more searching for a new home (highly recommended if you don’t mind the violence!)
Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George - a young thirteen year old eskimo girl flees her home and uses her survival skills in the wilderness of Alaska… all the more attempting to live among a wolf pack (also highly recommended!!!)
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson - a mystery (with romance!) about a mysterious school with an unsolved murder case from 1936… and a new one modern time
The Wild Robot by Peter Brown - a book about a literal wild robot that lives on an island (they made a movie!)
The Selection by Kiera Cass - an enemies-to-lovers romance about a 17-year-old girl selected to compete with other girls to marry the prince.. except she doesn’t even like him
Wolves of the Beyond by Kathryn Lasky - the story of a wolf pup that was supposed to die because of his splayed paw… but lived (this is a series, I highly recommend.)
The Maze Runner by James Dashner - a teenage guy wakes up in a mysterious place, not remembering anything… only to find that he and all these other guys are trapped, the only way out going through a maze
All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque - a WWII story about German boys who volunteer for war… only to recognize the brutalities of war
With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge - another WWII story, a true story, about his account of joining the marines only to face the reality of war
