Spring sports have been practicing for almost two weeks and are gearing up for an amazing season. Although there are a fewer number of spring sports than fall and winter sports - Talawanda's spring season is known for success. The spring sports include: Track & Field, Softball, Baseball, and Boys Tennis.
Talawanda Track and Field is one of the most successful sports at Talawanda. Coached by Brad Hoblitzell (Head Coach), this team has won 12 total SWOC championships (womens and mens combined). Track and field combines a wide range of athletic talents with multiple different outlets for talents. On the track, sprinters and distance runners compete in events with lengths going from 100 meters - 3200 meters. This also includes hurdles (110m, 200m, 300m) and steeplechase (400m, 2000m). On the field, pole vault, long jump, and high jump will take a leap into a great season! Finally, in the throwing pit: discus and shotput. The track team is looking forward to a promising season, especially on the girls side as they will go for their 7th consecutive win.
The Softball team, coached by Scott Davie, is starting their season now but has been conditioning for weeks to get ready for game season. With these women excelling in all positions, the team is destined for greatness this season. The team finished off last season strong, giving a good outlook for this season. The first game of the season is coming up on March 22 at home - come out and support!
The Talawanda Baseball team, coached by Matt Lykins, has been out and about with practices since the fall to get ready for this season. The team, consisting of positions such as outfielder, pitcher, 1st-3rd base, infield, shortstop, catcher, and right/left fielder, competes against numerous schools this season. Finishing the season 13:14 with many close games, the team is looking forward to upcoming games starting March 30 in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. The team will have a total of 5 games over the course of 5 days. The first home game begins at 5pm versus Oak Hills on April 10, 2025. Coming back from Florida the boys will be on a roll!
Boys Tennis, coached by Nate Silberstein, left off last season winning the SWOC Championship, so the boys are looking forward to a great season. 2024 player of the year, Milo Flaspoler, will be returning for his senior season to lead the Varsity team. The girls won SWOC this year in the fall, so this is giving promising foreshadowing for the boys season. Their first match is at 4pm on April 7, 2025 at the Talawanda High School Tennis Courts.
