Sunday, 4/12: Grief beyond stages - An exploration of types of grief, feels, & rituals (10am PST/1pm EST)
How do we grieve? What are we “allowed” to grieve for? How do we stay connected when our instinct is to isolate? Questions without a “clear” answer…
Join Melissa Delizia @theendlesswell for a two hour (120 minute) educational discussion on grief, loss, and moving with it rather than through it.
During our time together, we’ll discuss various types of grief, their side effects, as well as ways to hold space for grief. This event will focus on grief through an intersectional, trauma-informed & queer-focused lens. We’ll dive into types of losses and grief that don’t involve physical death; the stages of grief and the harm in expecting folks to move through them in socially constructed ways. We’ll also address the need for social connection and how to find it, in addition to ways we can navigate and hold space for the wide range of feelings that surface throughout our grief processes.
Our hope is that folks will leave this workshop with tools and support strategies for feeling their own grief, as well as supporting others in theirs, along with a better understanding of loss as both a universal and individualized experience.
This workshop is meant for anyone who has experienced or is experiencing grief (of any kind), those who want to learn more to support a grieving pal or partner, someone who wants to feel more prepared for the inevitably of grief, and anyone in the queer community or allies wanting to learn. This event is 18+.
The event is offered on a sliding scale. Suggested contribution is $44. Scale is set $0-$99. A limited number of equitable access (free) spaces will be provided. Please reach out if you need a discount code to attend.
