The Community Youth Club owes its origin to the Clean Team of the Youth which was established in primary and secondary schools by the then Education Department in 1974 in response to the government’s launch of the Clean Hong Kong Campaign. The purpose of it was to provide students with opportunities to engage directly in community work through various activities to clean up Hong Kong’s hygienic environment. After years of development and expansion in its scope of community services, the Clean Team of the Youth was officially renamed the Community Youth Club (CYC) in February 1978. With its motto "Learn, Be concerned and Serve", the Club continues to provide the primary and secondary students in Hong Kong with additional chances of understanding and serving the community.
