World Read Aloud Day was February 1st. Medio Creek Elementary celebrated it by teachers inviting guest readers to visit their classroom and read a book aloud to their students. Teachers invited family members, parents and community members to read aloud to their classes. The library was hosting a book fair. Books from the book fair were donated to the classroom libraries in the name of each guest reader. Guest readers also received a book for taking the time to visit and read to the students and several of them donated their book to the classroom library they visited. Thank you to all who participated in this event.

Medio Creek students were visited by award winning authors Dr. F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell. They are the 2017 Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children's Book Award winners for the picture book, Maybe Some Beautiful: How Art Transformed a Neighborhood.

Cynthia Molinar, Medio Creek Librarian is a member of the regional book award committee and was instrumental in arranging the visit.
