Accelerated English I

This course is built around Ohio’s Learning Standards along with pre-AP content as identified by the College Board.

• Students delve deeper into more complex works to analyze structure, style, themes, figurative language, symbolism, and tone.

• Students evaluate the artistry and social value of a work, and examine the historical context and textual details that contribute to the work.

• Student writing focuses on the critical analysis of literature, including expository, analytical, argumentative, and well-constructed creative writing.

• Students study the elements of writing style, including vocabulary, sentence structure, and logical organization.
