Welcome to the Swampscott Middle School Summer Reading website

Dear Families,

This year for summer reading, students may select their own summer reading book choice(s) to read. Though there are no required books, students should read one book or more of their choosing. A list of popular young adult titles has been compiled by our school librarian as a helpful resource to guide students in selecting a book.

The “Summer Reading Challenge” asks that students read 15 minutes a day, every day, all summer long. For families who would like to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge, they can print a chart that is located on this link: Summer Reading Challenge Chart or in the Summer Reading Brochure.

Students may also submit a “post-it note review” of their favorite summer read. This is not a "report" but rather a way of providing a space for students to share their love for a book for others to see and possibly then read themselves. A “post-it note review” is a brief description of the book that would encourage others to read it. Post-it notes can be attached to the cover of the book and can be submitted as either a photograph or as a written review on the Google forms. The link can be found here: Submission Link.

We also have a Twitter account @SwampMiddleSch and will be posting reviews on our library website if you do not have social media.

A summer reading brochure will be sent home and will be available at the Swampscott Public Library for families who would like a paper copy of the online resources.
