ACTIVITIES
Telephone to Text
Students sit in a circle. Explain the game of telephone, a verbal message is passed from one person to another. Play a round. Teacher starts by passing a message and it continues around the circle. The last person says the message out loud. Typically when it comes to the end of the line, the message has been changed. It’s very hard to prove where the message was changed or what the original message is. Tell students that now we’re going to pass around a written message. Write a message on a slip of paper and pass it around the circle. The last person reads the message. Talk about how when thoughts/opinions are written down, it is hard to change.
