My Friend Wants to Play with Someone Else
It's tricky when your friend wants to take a break or meet some new kids. You likely feel left out and even confused.

Friendships have to be FLEXIBLE to work. Allow your friend time to explore other friendships or activities. It doesn't mean they are no longer your friend, it just means they are growing as a person.
Rejection hurts
Rejection feels bad and change is hard. You can bounce back to feeling good faster than you think. You're brave and kind and important.
Still feeling sad, angry and hurt?
Share your feelings with an adult that you trust. Chances are they've had similar experiences. Rejection is a part of life for everyone. You are not alone.
STRATEGIES TO TRY
Although it may feel scary. Use POSITIVE SELF TALK to get through.
"This is an opportunity for me to make new friends too."
"Maybe I can try something new today."
"I'm brave enough to ask others to play."
"I am fun and people want to play with me."
You could TALK IT OUT with your friend.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?"

Example
Bill: "I feel lonely when you play with other people and don't include me. I understand you want to meet new people and try new things. I need to know that we're still friends even though your branching out."
Sarah: "Thanks for understanding. I do want to try new things and sometimes that easier for me to do alone. Maybe we can have a sleep over this weekend."
