A giant thank you for Lulu Buck, Student Support Services Coordinator with St. Vrain Valley School District, for presenting to our 4th and 5th grade students the importance of kindness to strengthen school communities and the policy of kindness in our school district.
It is NEVER okay to tease or make remarks about someone's differences.
Even if we are "joking."
If you see something - say something!
Be a buddy - safety in numbers.
SVVSD Policy:
The school has goals to help everyone feel welcome and included. We have to co-exist with everyone, so that we all feel comfortable learning.
Treat everyone fairly and follow the law. Your words matter.
Help kids and adults learn to respect people who are different from them.
Think about how school decisions affect everyone, especially people from different backgrounds.
Help everyone feel proud of their school and community.
Review school rules to make sure they are fair for everyone.
Solve problems quickly if someone feels they were treated unfairly.
Make sure people who break these rules face the right consequences.
This kindness activity will culminate in a whole-school poem, highlighting all of the gifts, interests, and talents that make both students and staff, at Erie Elementary School, unique. We are learning that we are actually linked by our unique perspectives and characteristics.
