With the hybrid learning model comes many moving parts. Students will be carrying supplies from home to school, perhaps to daycare or a second home as well. One day they will be online and working independently, the next they will be in class, wearing masks and social distancing from their friends.
How can we help them stay organized and motivated?
How can we ensure that every weekday feels like a school day?
To Avoid. . .
Tired kids
Kids in PJ’s on Webex
Hungry Kids
Forgetting materials
Late to school kids
Grumpy kids – because their schedule changes frequently
Maintain Daily Routines: Every School Day Morning - Keep it The Same
Go to bed the same time every night
Wake up the same time every morning
Shower, eat breakfast, brush teeth
Get backpack ready
If kids bring their lunch to school- make it the night before even if they aren’t going to school.
If kids bike or walk to school, get out of the house at the same time and take a walk or a bike ride.
If kids ride the bus, walk to the bus stop, then home again (if it’s a home-learning day)
If you drive your kids to school, go for a quick car ride.
Establishing daily routines during school days will minimize the inconsistencies of the hybrid learning format and perhaps eliminate some of the struggles you may have with varying daily routines.
