As our whole world is coming out of pandemic and wanting to create change in this world, Suttons Bay Public Schools kicked off its Empty Bowls event with a handbuilding workshop at the Suttons Bay Friendship Community Center. It was a HUGE success!
This was a donation based event in which patrons handbuilt a bowl to be donated to the Empty Bowls event as well as allow patrons to make a second bowl to keep!

How Suttons Bay Public Schools got involved...
The spring semester of 2021 required more elective options, so art teachers Mary Hall & Jessica Vitale had an opportunity to collaborate and create an art project that would help their students better understand how to help their local community. Vitale had developed her curriculum based on the United Nations' 17 Global Goals and Goal 2 was Zero Hunger. This was the perfect opportunity to create an awareness of world and local hunger for students and how we can make a difference.
All proceeds will go to the following organizations:
50% will benefit the World Food Programme (a United Nations affiliate)
50% will benefit a Suttons Bay Virtual Ukrainian family, the Bakunets, who are working with their Church of Evangelical Faith to feed and aide their families in Ukraine.
