CONTINUOUS LEARNING COMMUNITIES
The 2022-2023 year is bringing some changes to what was formerly Pastoral Leadership Development. This year you are invited to participate in monthly Continuous Learning Communities (CLC). The CLC days will be set up in retreat format and will center on the 5 Focus Areas of the UMC: Developing Principled Christian Leaders, Creating New and Renewed Congregations, Promoting Abundant Health, Dismantling Poverty and Dismantling Racism.
The first CLC will be held on Thursday, September 29 from10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We'll gather for worship, discuss the book "Leadership in the Wesleyan Spirit by Lovett H. Weems, Jr. (please read before attending), fellowship together over lunch provided by the District, continue the discussion and finish the day with communion. Location is the pavilion at Countryside Community Church (in case of inclement weather inside the Social Hall). CEUs will be available. Please sign up:
IN-PERSON BOUNDARIES TRAINING FOR CLERGY
For Pastors and leaders who are in need of Boundaries training (required every 4 years), an in-person training will be held on Saturday, September 17 from 9 AM to 2:00 PM in the Scranton Wilkes-Barre District. at Central UMC in Honesdale, PA. The training will be led by Rev. Kathy Kind, Director of Connectional Ministries. Please register for the training by sending an e-mail to the SWB District Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
CHURCH SAFETY LEADS
We need to increase Safety leads in each District! Safety leads in a local church are sent safety updates and helpful information. Please encourage a member of your Trustees to sign up as the Safety Lead for your congregation at https://susumc.org/safety-lead/

Save the date for our SWB November Continuous Learning Community. Our Susquehanna Conference Director of Connectional Ministries, Rev. Kathy Kind, will be with us to share resources for creating new and renewed congregations -- Saturday, November 12, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This CLC will be available to both clergy and laity.
