Mr. Vining

Desert Mountain High School

Astrophysics/Honors Physics First/Physics First

When Mr. Vining was in high school he loved science and math but he was not allowed to take Physics because he was not in the top 5% of his class. When he went to college he was majoring in Wildlife Ecology until he took the dreaded Physics class. He loved it so much that he decided to change his major and became a physics teacher and open Physics to all students. After he started his teaching career at Saguaro High School in 1986, he doubled the Physics enrollment there. While at Saguaro he received his masters in Astrophysics from the University of Arizona and then went on to develop the districts Astrophysics curriculum. In 1999 he transferred over to Desert Mountain and again was instrumental in tripling enrollment in physics.
