Our in-country partner, International Peace Initiatives, is an International Non Governmental Organization (INGO) based in Kenya whose mission is to promote cultures of peace by supporting sustainable initiatives that improve livelihoods and enhance quality of life. They believe that peace is not merely the absence of war but access to basic needs (health, food, education, economic freedom, life, shelter, etc). International Peace Initiatives works for peace in the form of social, spiritual, economic stability, health and transformation of people and communities through education, enterprise (entrepreneurial skills development) and empowerment.
Located in the beautiful country of Kenya, the Kithoka area is the location of our community project, and surrounded by national reserves and parks, home to wildlife that includes lions, leopards, and elephants.
Our in-country partners, International Peace Initiatives, founded by Dr. Karambu Ringera, began in 2002 as a support organization working with women whose husbands have died of HIV are often left with no home, and children to care for. It has now evolved to include the Kithoka Amani Children’s Home (KACH) whose mission is to keep orphaned and vulnerable children in the community where they grew up. KACH currently houses 38 orphaned and vulnerable children from the area (ranging in ages 3 - 24 years old). As part of a permaculture farm, the education center will also support women’s initiatives as a place for training.
Our project provides the funds and volunteer support needed to help build the education center.
