In Mrs. Underwood's book club, we read a book called, "Picture of Hollis Woods." A trouble maker, named Hollis Woods, is known for changing foster parents, until she meets Josie Cahill.

5th graders are going to Ascend camp, and we are so excited. We can go kayaking, hiking, play archery, etc. We are going there on April 30. If you want to go to Ascend but you are worried, it's only 45 min to 1 hour. We are hoping it will not rain. 

Reporting back on May 1st. Ugh it rained!!!!!!! But not all was lost. We still went went to the camp, saw a great Animal show, had a delicious lunch and played in the rain with our friends! We still had a good time. 

The Janitor has the right to put the trash in one bucket. This is because most kids don't even care which trash can they put their trash in, so does it really matter?  The janitors work so hard to clean up our mess. Even if they did recycle, kids WOULDN'T care. They don't have time to sort through the trash with all the stuff they have to do. Its not the janitors fault. It is ours. WE should take the responsiblity. The least we can do is to say thank you for their hard work.They don't have the time to clean OUR messes.

The raffle winner was a student named Michael Williams. He purchased 10 newspapers and won the raffle.  In the basket there were water guns, soccer balls, memory games and more. I also want to congratulate all of the other people who participated.

 Just Add Magic is a Prime Original. There are 3 girls using a secret cookbook. They make recipes from the book and even make their own! Kelly, Darbie, and Hannah, also find out secrets about the past, future, and more! In case you like it a lot, there is another version of it called, "Just Add Magic Mystery City." There are 3 seasons in the show, and one season in Mystery City. The start of each episode says, "Just Add..." And continues. An example is Just Add Rose. If you don't know what  Just Add Magic is it is a cooking show where they use magic spices. In every season there is a different mystery.

There are many ways to study for the STAAR test. Some examples are to do prodigy, IXL, 99 math, reading a book, doing an extra study book, or many other ways. If you are in 3rd or 4th grade you have a reading and math test. But if you are in 5th grade you have to do science, reading, and math. Good luck on your STAAR! Results should be out in June.

On April 6th, the fifth graders got to go on a hot air balloon ride! It was a tethered balloon which means that it was tied to something. In this case it was tethered to four trucks. The balloon was MASSIVE. It was about 100 feet tall. I hope you look forward to this amazing experience!

• go to the park

• make a movie with your friends

• pretend you're tourists in your town with your friends

• learn an instrument

Earth Day is on the 22nd and it is celebrated for people who want to help the world be a better place. Our world is going to be destroyed if we don't choose to help it. Make the right decision (Help the World) because we want the future to be good and equal for people coming to it. We want to have green grass and full trees.

At the talent show there were a bunch of talented students. Some did dancing, singing, guitarist, ballet, bollywood dance, and very funny comedy. Career day is when parents come and present a job. We had tons of parents presenting. We learned so much. What career will you choose?
