Bright Elementary’s school counselors led the annual College and Career Week February 23rd–27th for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Each day featured a themed dress-up opportunity, with themes shared in advance to allow families time to prepare and participate. Students and staff demonstrated strong engagement throughout the week. During the week, counselors delivered grade-level college and career readiness lessons focused on identifying personal interests and strengths, connecting classroom learning to future opportunities, exploring a variety of career pathways, and introducing postsecondary options such as trade schools, military service, technical programs, and college. Students actively participated in discussions, interest exploration activities, and goal-setting exercises tailored to their developmental level. In alignment with the ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors Standards, these lessons promoted goal setting, a growth mindset, and an understanding of how academic effort today supports future success. College and Career Week helped students build early awareness, increase motivation, and strengthen their understanding of how their current learning connects to long-term academic and career goals.
