TURTLE COAST GROUP ENDORSEMENTS
Florida House, District 33
"I’m honored to be able to carry this endorsement and the importance behind it to Tallahassee in hopes of truly representing the voters of District 33."
Cocoa City Council, District 1
"Thank you to the Sierra Club for the endorsement and for believing in me to continue serving the City of Cocoa. I will make decisions that will always benefit our environment. Cocoa let's save our lagoon by any means necessary."
Cocoa City Council, District 4
"My career mission has been in water issues seeking ways to compliment green infrastructure with grey infrastructure to serve the triple bottom line for sustainable, high quality water resources."
Melbourne City Council, District 2
"The past 3.8 years, I have focused on bringing money back from Tallahassee to support our commitment of the IRL. To date that represents approx. $3MM ."
Palm Bay City Council, District 4
"As Florida and Palm Bay continues to grow, we need leaders who have smart growth in mind. I have implemented Low Impact Development in Palm Bay and will continue to fight to protect Turkey Creek and restore Indian River Lagoon. I can't do this alone but with your support and vote we can continue to Take Action and Get Results."
Titusville City Council, Seat 1
"I was webmaster and petition gatherer for Speak Up Titusville - Right to Clean Water. We got the signatures to force a ballot measure in November that allows Titusville Citizens to vote that they have the right to clean water, including the Indian River Lagoon. I am on the Titusville Tree Team that got a Tree Canopy preservation ordinance for Titusville. I help run the Christmas Bird Count every year at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (MINWR). I am a longtime volunteer at MINWR and the Enchanted Forest in Titusville."
Titusville City Council, Seat 3
"We are experiencing many of the results of technological advancement in our city today. But, we are plagued with the lack of ability to meet and resolve many age-old community challenges. Technology alone, without wisdom and experience applied equally, will not work. As, your candidate for City Council Seat 3, I will be actively listening to you. I am asking for your support to use our wisdom together to move Titusville forward. "
West Melbourne City Council
"Thank you for your support as I work to serve and advocate for my community! By prioritizing programs like septic-to-sewer conversions and composting, I believe we can lessen our impact on the Indian River Lagoon and work together to invest in our community's future."
West Melbourne City Council
"I am proud to be endorsed by the Turtle Coast Sierra Club. I will advocate for low impact development and resilient infrastructure in West Melbourne. We will build a community that our children will be proud of, with clean water, proper sewer and transportation infrastructure, and healthy environment."
STATEWIDE ENDORSEMENTS
for Florida Governor
"Our Everglades, beaches, water, and our way of life are all on the line this November. We can’t continue sitting on the sidelines when it comes to tackling existential environmental challenges. Alongside the Sierra Club of Florida we are mounting a grassroots movement to change the course of our state and protect Florida’s environment for generations."
for Florida Chief Financial Officer
With Florida’s homeowners insurance market on the brink of collapse, Floridians need a CFO who prioritizes residents over party politics and big donors every step of the way. Hattersley, a former State House Rep and Bronze Star recipient, has a track record of putting others before self-interest and an understanding of the changing environment’s role on Floridians’ financial stability. The stakes could not be higher and time is of the essence. Floridians cannot afford to squander another four years to ineffectual leadership.
"I am excited and honored to have the endorsement of the Sierra Club of Florida. As CFO, having a keen awareness and understanding of the impact of climate, storm, and natural disasters upon the risk, real estate and insurance industries is critical to improving the quality of life and financial stability of all Floridians."
