MEDIA PRODUCTION 

 

Program Overview

This series of STEAM courses specializing in media production serves students in grades 9-12 and utilizes Summit High School’s production facility. The courses in this program blend theory and practical training to help students experience web-based media, production work in digital video and audio, and multimedia as a communication tool. By visiting multiple, related disciplines, students develop creativity in problem-solving strategies while becoming effective and efficient communicators. Group discussion and critique help students evaluate their own work as well as their peers'. Projects include exercises in audio, directing, acting, composition, editing, & continuity.

 

Mr. Shane Kress

Shane Kress is Summit High School's Media Production teacher and Television Studio manager. A native of New Providence, Shane graduated from Rowan University with a BA in Radio/TV/Film. After graduation, he worked in the production department of WMGM-TV in Atlantic City and also received his MA in Broadcasting/Telecommunications/Mass Media from Temple University. Shane has been teaching television and video since 2005. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, DIY home improvement projects, and endurance road racing.
