Writing in Mesopotamia

Part 1:

On the red bookshelf, grab the sheet of paper called "Evaluating Evidence and Primary Sources". Then, read the introduction and directions on that page. Using the picture below, identify the reasonable inferences on the front of the handout (Click on the image to make it bigger).

Part 2:

Use the first three pages in the reading to answer the following questions in an app of your choice.

1) What do we call the writing from Ancient Sumer?

2) What material did they write on?

3) What do we call the writers in Ancient Sumer?

4) What tools did they use to write with?

5) What were the things that Sumerians typically wrote about?

Part 3:

Go back to the "Evaluating Evidence and Primary Sources" handout. Now that you know more about Cuneiform, complete the back of the handout by identifying which statements are true or false and providing quotes from the reading to support your answers.

Part 4:

On the Red Bookshelf, grab the handout called "Cuneiform Writing Prompt." Read the directions and then answer the question provided. When you're finished, please turn in your paper, because it will be graded.
