The band will not be performing on Friday, September 26. We do have REQUIRED FULL GROUP REHEARSAL from 1pm-4pm to prepare for Fanfare.
Its time for Fall Mums! Place your order using the form available in the band room. Beautify your yard AND raise money for your FAB account! All BAND and DRAMA students are encouraged to participate. Contact Mrs. Swantner with any questions.
Presales have ended, but there will a limited number of shirts available at the Homecoming Game and Senior Night!
Thank you to all of the parents who participated in the FAB Meeting survey! You asked and we listened. The 2nd Tuesday at 7pm seems to be the preferred meeting day, but many people preferred to do meetings VIRTUALLY!

Check out the agenda and last meeting's minutes here. it should be ready the first week of each month. All fine arts parents are encouraged to attend!
The school year came on quick and is in full swing! The first week was full of new schedules, teachers, friends, and lots of classroom/school rules and procedures. This is just a friendly reminder that absolutely no phones, headphones/earbuds, or backpacks are permitted in classroom at any time at SAHS. This is a schoolwide policy.
No food drink or gum/candy is permitted in the HS or MS band room at any time. There is just far too much expensive equipment in these spaces to risk the messes that come with these items. Failure to follow this expectation will result in a Power Hour or after school detention. Lets all work together to keep our space clean and free of rodents/pests!
We do encourage all students to have a reusable water bottle in music class with them though!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to your school administrators, or Fine Arts teachers.
Our athletic director, Keith Stephens, has just informed us that an additional home game has been added to the calendar. While it is never easy to deal with a last minute schedule change, we do ask that all students plan to be present for this game and support our Varsity Football team and get an extra chance to perform!! Please email me directly at ahousto@summitacademy.com if you happen to have an immovable event/trip already planned for this date. Go Dragons! PINK SHEET COMING SOON!
All details, for these events can be found in our Fine Arts Department Google Calendar. There will also always be a "Pink Sheet" with all info sent home and posted at least a week before each performance event.

After many years of trying to raise money for a small SAMB vehicle, we are proud to announce the arrival of our very own Kawasacki Mule! Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Chippewa for finding us this great deal that will make life so much easier for the pit crew, staff, and students!
We could not be MORE PROUD of the Horns of the Dragon after a stellar performance on Saturday at Carlson High School's Marching Band Spectacular! Not only did they come in FIRST PLACE in their own Class D, they also scored higher than all bands in Class C! We also took home the caption awards for Best Auxiliary (Color Guard), Best Percussion, and Best Music! Come support the Horns of the Dragon at our next competition, the Downriver Fanfare, at Wyandotte HS on September 30!
Thank you to all of the amazing parents who made the Carlson Marching Band Spectacular an amazing day for our kids! Riding the bus, chaperoning at CHS, making 100 subs, fixing the trailer, pushing pit equipment, driving all over town, and a million other little things...band parents are the ones who take this from a class to an EXPERIENCE! Thank you all so much!
Check out the gallery HERE! Thank you to Mr. Hensler for all of the amazing photos! If you have photos to add to the gallery please email them to davehensler83@gmail.com
"Laynie has such a hard working attitude and always brings some much needed fun to rehearsal. Even if that fun is in the form of an actual chicken! I love that she is always herself and encourages others to be confident in who they are as well!"

Dear Summit Academy North High School Families,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am reaching out to inform you about the intervention resources available at our school to support your child's academic growth. One of the key resources we offer is the WIN (What I Need) class. This specialized class is tailored to meet your child's specific learning needs, determined based on their NWEA scores. All students are enrolled in a WIN and they meet daily.
Other intervention opportunities include the option for your child to attend school IN PERSON on Fridays, These sessions are conducted from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and bussing is available. Click here to request a bus on Fridays. This form has to be completed every week by Thursday at 10:00AM, if you wish to ride the bus. Additionally, we offer after-school tutoring, study hall during all lunches in room 802, and credit recovery work time and study hall every Thursday for one hour, during the school day, to assist your child in their academic journey further.
To PREVENT failure, students must do their part to stay on top of their coursework. When students fall behind, this adds more stress and makes it difficult for them to earn the grades they are truly capable of earning. Here are a few simple tips that you can enforce at home to promote success:
Attendance: Every time your child misses class they are behind.
Fridays: Our remote Friday structure provides students with the flexibility to receive individualized support from teachers. Be sure your students are logging in and are ENGAGED.
PowerSchool: Be sure you have both the student and parent portals activated and that you making it a routine to check them often. If you need assistance, please call 734-789-1605.
Hold your students accountable and talk to them about taking advantage of these opportunities. If they are not taking advantage of these opportunities and you need further assistance please contact your child’s teacher to brainstorm some additional ways we can work together.
We are fortunate at Summit Academy North High School to have a full, highly qualified Intervention team to support your child’s needs, all they have to do is take action and participate. If you have any questions or would like more information about these intervention options, please feel free to reach out to me. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child's education.
