Our Gospel reading about the Beatitudes reminded us how we are called to serve and show love for each other.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
Matthew 5: 1- 16
We are called to be stewards and help those in need whenever possible. During our St Vincent's celebrations the children donated to our appeal and we were able to raise an amazing £517.33. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful school community.
"So continue encouraging each other and building each other up, just like you are doing already."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
We know about many different Saints: our Patron Saint, our House Saints or people we knew who lived their lives in a way which was an example for many. We are called to be living Saints in the way we act, how we speak to each other and the care we show to God's world.
"As for the saints who are in the earth,
They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight."
Psalm 16:3
We had some wonderful donations contributed from the whole school community for our Harvest festival. These donations were all sent to our local Homeless centre, Emmaus House in Acton.
“What should we do then?” the crowd asked.
John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
Luke 3:10–11
Intergenerational Project - Michael Flanders Dementia Centre
Whilst COVID enforcements were in place, this meant that we had to pause our visits to our local Dementia centre in Acton, Michael Flanders. This Autumn term our Year 6 children have started to visit again weekly and they love sharing in the activities with the wonderful people there.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
John 15:12
We have been extremely lucky that this term Fr Mark from St Aidan's parish comes to visit us each Friday. He talks about a topic we may be learning about during out RE lessons or that is linked with the liturgical cycle. Fr Mark prays with us and leads us in reflection.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

That evening we also had a Charity Family Quiz.
"Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have because God is pleased with these kinds of sacrifices."
Fr Jude came to lead our Advent Mass to begin the season of joyful waiting and began by blessing our Advent wreath.

This year our Reception, Year 2 and Year 4 children all presented the Nativity story to the school. They were a wonderful way for us to reflect on the story of Jesus' birth and to be truly joyful during this season of Advent.
"And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth".

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Epiphany Mass
A prayerful way to start the new term by celebrating our Mass for the Feast of the Epiphany. Our Catholic Life Ambassadors and our Mini Vinnies did a wonderful job of leading it.
"When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy."

Racial Justice Sunday
St Vincent's community- children, staff and parents alike, all joined together to stand up against racism and celebrate coming together as one, for Racial Justice Sunday. Our children read, sang and created some beautiful cards which contained messages of hope and unity and which they then distributed to the congregation upon departure.

Season of Lent
We started the Season of Lent with a reflective Collective Worship considering how we can all make our mark on the world in a positive way. We introduced acknowledging kind acts and that these were to be placed on our Prayer focus in order to be shared.
"for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”
Psalm 103:14
We decided to share the key messages which the children had created as part of their Lenten Collective Worship with the wider local community. We sang as we processed around and encouraged those who saw us with our messages to ensure that this Liturgical season is one of positive change.
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Lenten Fundraiser
The Catholic Life Ambassadors and Mini Vinnies group researched and decided which two charities they would like to raise money for during this Season of Lent. We shared in celebrating an Easter Mass as a school community on return after the holiday break. Our Mini Vinnies led us in prayer, reading the Scripture passages and we sang and danced to celebrate the victory of everlasting life over death.

May Procession
To begin the month of May and celebrate the importance of Our Lady the whole school took part in a May Procession with the youngest and oldest children in the school crowning the stature of our Blessed Mother.
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
During this month of May, parents from our school community and local Parish Churches were invited to join us in praying the Rosary in our school Chapel. This was a beautiful time of prayer as a community.
"They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. "
Pentecost
Our Year 6 children handed out birthday cards to our whole school community to celebrate the feast of Pentecost. This was a wonderful sharing within our School community to celebrate the feast day, particularly as this is the feast day of the Order within one of our Parishes- the Spiritans.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. "
