Adoremus
'Our Eucharistic Journey'
Cardinal calls us to the presence of Christ - Adoremus 2018
"From the Blessed Sacrament flows our life in Christ, flows our mission in Christ, flows our destiny in Christ."
This year we shall be celebrating the Blessed Sacrament along with our Diocese, parish and schools within all communities. This is an opportunity to enhance our devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and share the Cardinal’s hope for a 'rejuvenation' of love for the Eucharist in our school. It is important to remind ourselves that Christ is at the heart of our schools and learning and that 'We grow, learn and achieve by following Christ.'
We began our Adoremus journey through the celebration of Corpus Christi, which was lead by our Year 3 pupils and teachers. This mass was followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in our school Chapel.
In Autumn One, our Adoremus focus was based around the Artist Michael Malm and his inspiring artwork called 'Did our Hearts Not Burn Within Us?' The children across the school, recreated and interpreted the Michael Malm's artwork within their lessons. Here are some examples of the work produced.
Encounter - Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
The children at St Vincent's came up with the initiative of a whole school Homeless Day with the purpose of developing empathy for those around us who are homeless and in need of love, care and support. Over the course of the day children sold objects which they had made or purchased in order to raise a significant amount of money for Homeless charities. Once finished, the children returned to class for a period of reflection and prayer considering their experience and how they might continue to make an impact supporting those in the community.
We linked up with Mrs McCarthy's old school in South Africa, Our Lady of Fatima Convent, who put us in touch with the charity, The Domino Foundation, for whom we raised £1290 on this day. The children researched the work of the Domino Foundation and chose this charity for the outstanding work it does with the poor and marginalised in South Africa.
Our Lenten charities raised money for the Catholic Children's Society and The Passage. Our children came up with the idea of an Easter Fair and organised the event along with support from staff, parents and the PTA.
The School Council came up with a fantastic idea to hold a 'teachers' mini marathon' to raise money for one of our school charities, 'Solving Kids' Cancer.' They worked together with the PTA to host the event
Our Advent Charity was Mary’s Meals. Mary’s Meals provides meals for hungry children who are in schools within some of the poorest countries. We supported the charity through the Backpack Project. The project is a way to help the children get the best out of their learning.

On Friday 28th September 2018 we shall be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning to support those with Cancer. The coffee morning will be at St Vincent’s Primary School in the hall from 9:15am-11:00am. We would love everyone to join us so please spread the word to family and friends who would like to attend and make a difference with us. If there are also any parent volunteers who are able to help out at the coffee morning serving tea and cakes we would really appreciate the support.
Our Mini Vinnie Team have been making regular visits to the Dementia Centre in order to support the customers and help to improve their wellbeing.
This harvest we have been collecting dry food for our local charity, Emmaus House. Emmaus house provide advice and support for those who need shelter and hope. As Catholics it is important for us to be like Jesus and help those who are less fortunate. It is wonderful to see our school come together as a community and be Good Samaritans. Here is a picture to show how thoughtful and caring you have all been to our wider community.
