ATA Library

The ATA library focuses on your professional development. You will find their website here: http://library.teachers.ab.ca/. In the centre of the screen is the library catalogue which you can search for books, reports, and DVDs. To the left side, you will see the collection of Great Links which provides you with great free websites in almost any subject area. To the right side of the screen, you will see a MakerSpace Collection box, by clicking the maker kit link you will see a full listing of the maker kits.

They loan materials for 4 weeks. They mail them out to your school during the school year and to your home in the summer and they prepay the return postage. Loan renewals are possible if no other teacher has requested the items you have out – you just need to send them an email and ask for the renewal.

When you login to the library page, you will see a “Subscription Resources” box appear in the lower left side of the screen. Here you can access the article databases, eBook collection, and streaming videos.

We are also happy to provide you with research service. So if you have a question – like how do I help a student with dyspraxia or how to I support my ELL students, you can fire a question off to the library and they will help you out.

To borrow materials from the library, you will need to create your ATA Library account. To do this, please sign into our library’s home page (http://library.teachers.ab.ca/) using your ATA online account. The act of signing into the page is what creates your library account. As soon as you have done this, you can request anything you like from the catalogue and, if it is available, they will try to mail it out that day to you.
