You step out of the cramped elevator and are filled with smells of sanitation. Your sister is quite a scientist. That's her OFFICIAL job. Scientist. You technically can't disclose exactly how she makes money, but it has something to do with the cases inside the lab. She came about this job by way of the internet. She told you once that she was browsing for places to sell you online, whoever'd take you for the highest price, but nobody wanted to buy you. Anyways, she saw an ad on the black market that was looking for someone to make machines for very particular purposes. And, since your sister is quite the inventor, she answered that ad, and has been making machines like that for a while.
It pays a lot too. You don't want to disclose how much money your sister makes, but it's in the realm of 7 digits a year. You're not sure how legal it is for her to be making it, but you have your reservations about the ethicalness of it all. On the one hand, you get to eat and live in this beautiful forest, on the other, dirty money from dirty places is paying for it. You've tried to get your sister to move the business to the contractor level, ie, making those machines for the government, but she detests, and claims that you're just whining about what's perfectly normal.
Your friends have a general idea of where your family's money comes from, but none of them knows as much detail about it, and none of them ask. It's for the better if they don't entirely know. You feel terrible about it and you're a direct beneficiary of the deed; they don't need the money, so you have no idea how they'd react. Perhaps that's why Suki finds your sister cool, because she does something badass for a living that's almost entirely illegal.
