You exit the bunker.
Oh nO, tHe wHoLe wOrLd iS DeStRoYeD~ [!]
You leave the bunker feeling a feeling you've never felt before. Confusion? Empathy, maybe? Whatever it is, you don't like it. You don't really like feeling emotions, you more prefer chemicals. As in, you prefer scientific emotions: dopamine, adrenaline, serotonin, etc. You trust these chemicals because you know what they are, and you can physically limit or supplement them in order to feel those emotions.
Some people might call this "weird" or "esoteric" or even "unnatural". But for you, it's giving up one natural thing just so you can experience the world in a manner that you can understand. Let's be real here, the only thing you require in life is a little knowledge that it's gonna be ok, and that you're going to live another day. That's what your emotions being cut off is all about, you never grew up with normal emotions until you were about 8 years old, and then you were thrown off the deep end and had to make your way back to shore. You had no "teacher" to help you with those kinds of things. You didn't like to go to therapists and psychiatrists because you have superstitions about them, and you can't get off your own reservations. You're extremely lucky that your friends have been so understanding about you not knowing how to emote. It also was kind of a double-edged sword that your mother didn't put you into school, so your only connections to people your own age were via your friends, which doesn't allow you to express yourself in ways that your friends may not. If you liked anime, which you don't, let's be clear, and none of your friends did, you'd have nobody to talk about it, which may lead to you having radical ideas about anime or whatever. Luckily, that isn't the case, you don't like anime a whole lot, but your mother does, and she had nobody to talk about it, so she began having radical ideas about anime.
Emotions you feel today will forever change who you are, for better or for worse. This game that you will play, will take those emotions you felt when you were forced to feel them, and amplify them to a million.
