You enter a large room. It is very dark inside, must be because nobody has been down here in at least a few years. Maybe more. The walls of this place seem distant, like, both in space, but also time. This must be a secondary lab because you see a bunch of tubes arounds. The cats seem to be not afraid, but you can't be expectant of them to know fear because they literally were born a few minutes ago.
Speaking of that, how do cats become, you know, scaredy cats. Is it their inherent natures as cats. And if so, what caused them to require all that fear. Cats are like, apex predator (in the wild), so would they be afraid of what, spooking their prey? Or is there something else. Some existential threat they are subconsciously aware of. Maybe Meowrage being your session's first player is a good thing. You, as a monster, know from experience to fear a lot of things. It's just a part of the culture. "Beware of rocks" "Don't lose sight of your parents" "don't get lost" "Never wounder around alone in the Core" stuff like that, where you know things not to do from the day you're born, because it's honed into your brain. However, you doubt that if you hadn't had any honing of your brain, you'd have the fear that you do.
That's where you suppose cats have a one up on us. They automatically assume everything is out to get them just by their nature. And humans, boy do they not know danger when they see it. Ever heard of the Darwin awards? Or Florida? Yeah, even I think that Humans have a nurtured fear, rather than an inert fear. So, as in this one case, Meowrage being the first player, he'll be able to use his cat powers to predict any kinds of threats just by his own natural ability. And these two cats, you'll have to rely on as singing canaries. If their fur starts to spike up, you know something is up, and you'll get your gun out.
But for right now, they are content.
