Should Schools Require Students To Learn Second Languages? Oui. by Lauren Crowe

Congratulations! You are on a trip to an unspecified country. You look around, andnd. . . you're lost. Great. You ask for directions, but nobody can understand you.

What did you expect? Only 20 percent of the world speaks English. Even though the United States is primarily English speaking, if someone has moved to another country that doesn't have a lot of English speaking people, you have to take additional time to learn the new language and have to stumble around life without being able to understand anyone.

So, we should make it required to learn a new language in school. Learning a language is scientifically proven to improve memory skills and enhances listening skills.

As well as this, learning a second language will give you a chance to connect with other cultures and people. This way, you can get a greater understanding of the world around you.

You don't have to pay for some expensive class, either. There are tons of free apps that allow you to learn languages, such as Duolingo, Memrise, Drops, and Rosetta Stone.

In conclusion, you can get these great benefits of learning a second language without spending a dime. So, hop to it, and start bringing people together.
