Peer Interview Project
I got transferred late into the class so I had to interview only Jay. I drew her cat that recently passed, Sprite.
Gouache
What are the positive and negative attributes of gouache?
Some positive things about gouache is how it can be both opaque or have some transparency to it which makes it very versatile. A negative attribute about gouache is its tendency to pick up the layer below it if it's not completely dry which can be annoying,
Will you use gouache again? What would you use it for? Why?
Yes, I've used gouache before in the past and i will continue to use it. It's extremely fun and you can get really fun vivid colors with it.
Rate your final painting on a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the best and 1 the worst. Please explain why you rated it the way you did.
I'd rate it maybe a 6.5, it's got dimension and I do like the vibrancy of the colors I used. However, it's a bit muddy and extremely imperfect. I rushed it a bit because i wanted to paint something other than a fruit.
Oil Paint.
5 things I learned.
It stinks
It doesn't layer well.
It takes forever to dry.
It can make pretty colors.
The way it blends is fun !
Im most happy with the hand spiraly page and the spread of my characters. I just like the way they both look.
I experimented with drawing in a book and also painting in a book hwichw as kind of fun. I learned that its kind of hard to just paint on a book inside cause the pages just stick ttogether.
I think I will probably continue it, it'll be a lot more fun without having to follow prompts that arent interesting to me.
I enjoyed this unit, maybe a 6/10. Again it'd be more fun if we could choose our own prompts even though i did anyways (oops)
