ProtoMax Make takes the waterjet cutting path generated by ProtoMax Layout, and controls the pump and nozzle position to create your parts.
In this program, the arm is active and the arrow keys or GUI elements will cause the CNC arm to move
The layout software is used for setup, while the make software controls the machine during the cut. Only one instance of it can be open at a time.
Either:
In Protomax Make, [File->Open] and locate your file, or
In Omax Layout, [Right click on Post]-->[Left Click "Open OMX Path in Make"]
The Make Program will open, and you will be presented with a popup box.
Choose your material from the Material drop down.
If your material is not present ask a Technologist for assistant.
Measure and enter the thickness of your plate in inches.
Confirm the tool offset is equal to the sticker for calibrated tool offset printed on the top bezel edge of the computer screen.
Leave Rotation at 0 and Scale at 1.
Left Click on [OK]
if this is the first usage of the waterjet for the day, a red window requesting axis homing will appear.
User Home should display slight negative numbers in the range of -0.125". If not, please find a technician.Â
Using arrow keys or green GUI move tools, position over desired start point
This must be at least 0.125" away from the left and bottom material edges to protect the waterjet.
Left click the lower "000 > Zero" torReset the Path Start home position.
Read cutting width & height from screen, visually confirm there is available space that will not collide with clamps.
Perform a dry run to trace all paths for precise location checking.
Keep clear enclosure open.
"Left click" blue "Begin Machining" button.
RIGHT click the Start button, selecting Dry Run at Full speed. (Left click would start a cut, if the protective hood were down)
Return to Path Start home with the lower "Go Home" button.
Lower nozzle splash guard.
Lift lid up slightly, push locking arm back, close lid
Check garnet level, refilling if below 1/3 full.
Click blue "Begin Manufacturing", then the red "Start".
Monitor machine in case of crash or failure (do not leave unattended).
Once cutting is complete, close the manufacturing pop-up window.
Move nozzle away from cut part.
Remove part from stock, twisting to break any tabs you added.
Remove stock from machine.
Raise nozzle so it is not submerged in water.
Deburr part before use.
