Moral Courage: Engaging Across Differences- Spring 2026
Course Description:
The OPS Department of Culture & Belonging Moral Courage course is designed for you to take steps to unite our school community instead of division. Educators will learn how to discuss polarizing issues productively and create trust-building opportunities.
Educators who will benefit from our course are those who want to empower students and teachers to hear, not fear, different perspectives. This course is for any educator (classified or certified) committed to making space for a sense of belonging for all while acknowledging differences. Each participant will be dedicated to ensuring that all students and staff have equal opportunities to be heard and understood.
Course Outcomes:
Gain skills to turn heated issues into healthy conversations and sustained teamwork
Gain discernment of others through increased understanding of different peoples experiences, values, needs and ideas
Identify and understand our own fears and how to avoid judgement of others despite diversity of viewpoints
Gain insights on the importance of not labeling others and how to build trust with someone you disagree with

February 19 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Instructional Resource Center
