My Focus
My name is Glenn, I'm a senior at Newark High and I've built this website to show you the pottery I've made in 2021.
My Experience
This is my fourth year taken ceramics, over those four years ive had a few pieces enter the art show. Id like to think ive grown pretty far from the first piece I made in ceramics my freshman year. My ceramics teachers have taught me alot not just about building clay but the ins and outs of the ceramics process.
The following photos show a cup i made by throwing a mixture of red and white clay.
Building
This year I relied heavily on throwing to fit my project criteria, i feel that's where my skills shine most. I really enjoy finishing a piece and glazing it. I often experiment on my projects with glaze, I pick two glazes that I think would work well together and examine when they come out of the kiln.
My Inspiration
I don't let others work influence my work. My pieces are created through challenging myself to through shapes I've never tried before.
This a teapot I made my third year taking ceramics, The idea came from Japanese rock stacking.
This teapot was made my fourth year in ceramics, When I made the previous teapot there were minor details I didn't like about it, So this year I decided to improve what I didn't like and I also made matching cups. This is the piece i'm proudest of and that took me the longest time to perfect.
