French-obsessed, scarf-wearing, and incredibly tasteful, Jason Wu is a junior at Needham High School, and an extremely interesting fashionista interviewee. I love his unique sense of what matters to him in fashion, and the sophistication of his style!

What is something that makes your style unique?

I think that something unique about my style is the formality of my clothing choices because I like the structure and silhouette of that genre of clothing.

Do you prefer vibrant colors or more muted tones when it comes to clothing?

I definitely prefer more muted colors in my overall wardrobe, but I love to add vibrant colors through accessories such as scarves to brighten outfits.

I love that! In your opinion, what is the most stylish uniform/costume? If you had to, what uniform/costume would you choose to rock every day?

I think that the most stylish uniform is the flight attendant because of the bold scarves and well-fitted suits. If I had to wear a uniform/costume everyday, it would also be a flight attendant because I love the elegance of their clothing.

Great answer. Who is your favorite fashionista/fashion inspo?

My favorite fashion inspiration is Audrey Hepburn because she has so many beautiful dresses and ensembles that vary in style depending on the film or event.

Very chic. What is your favorite way to accessorize?

Scarves!

Fringe and tassels: yes or no?

I think that they could work nice on a dress if placed and sized correctly because they add movement, though the only downside is that they can make a piece look like a cheerleading pom pom.

I agree, it really depends. What fashion era/period do you admire the most? Are you more Victorian, y2k, 70s…?

My favorite fashion period is either Rococo or the 1950s.

Amazing choices. Is there any specific way your closet is arranged? What is your system for picking out an outfit every day?

I organize my closet based on the genre of clothes such as dress shirts, pants, scarves, etc. To pick my outfits, the first and probably most important thing I do is look at the weather. Then, I look in my closet for clothes that I feel like wearing that also works for the weather. Sometimes, I get inspired by something I see and create an outfit to emulate the vibe.

What types of clothes make you feel the most confident? What types of clothes do you generally stay away from?

The clothes that make me feel the most confident are formal such as dress shirts and wool sweaters. I generally stay away from baggy clothing and jeans because I don't like the baggy silhouette on me and I don't like how jeans feel.

What are your favorite pastimes? Are there any clubs or other after-school activities that you’re super involved in?

My favorite pastimes are anything in French, playing the double bass, and drawing. I wouldn't say that I am super involved in any clubs or after-school activities; I would rather do relaxing things alone.

That’s so valid. What is your favorite form of art? What is your favorite example of that art form?

My favorite form of art is music because it is so accessible and can be used in any situation to express ambiance. My favorite genre of music is classical but I also like singers like Angèle and Barbara.

I love music too! What is your favorite and most obscure green flag you look for in a person?

I don't think I pay attention to red and green flags but if I had to pick a green flag, it would be being comfortable with silence.

Thank you so much for your time, Jason! Stay tuned for more fashionistas this school year, and DM @hilltoppernhs on Instagram to nominate yourself or a friend as a future fashionista!
